Sparkman takes a drop in national baseball rankings

The Sparkman Senators dropped from ninth to 20th in the latest MaxPreps Xcellent 25 baseball poll.

After a 6-0 start to the season which included wins over Oxford and Spain Park, the Senators have dropped their last two on the road to Hoover and Cullman. Cullman had been in the Top 25 before a loss to Sparkman in the Birmingham-Huntsville Classic dropped them out of the poll from their #10 position.

Next up for the Senators is the 5th annual Perfect Game Showdown tournament in Emerson, GA. The Perfect Game Showdown is a 24-team tournament featuring some of the best squads around the Southeast. Along with Sparkman, this year’s event features Central-Phenix City, Cullman, James Clemens, and Saraland as well as teams from Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
