The Sparkman Senators defeated Spain Park 9-2 in the 7A championship game to win their fourth state title in the last five years, and their first 7A state title.

Spain Park jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Lily Calvert came in to pitch in relief of Kailey Stoker from Sparkman. Calvert pitched 6 1/3 innings before giving way to Paige Bannerman in the seventh who got the final out.

Stoker’s bat was on fire, however, as she and Mackenzie Nutt both hit home runs and drove in two runs for Sparkman. Calvert had two hits and three RBIs. By the 4th inning, Sparkman has scored all nine of their runs, and Spain Park wasn’t able to come back from that deficit.

Sparkman finishes as one of the most dominant programs in the state this year, winning the biggest classification’s title.
