The 2017 Mr. and Miss Basketball awards, presented by ALFA Insurance, were announced in Montgomery Tuesday afternoon.

For the second year in a row, Mae Jemison’s John Petty was crowned Mr. Basketball at the ASWA Player of the Year banquet. The Alabama signee helped lead the Jaguars to a Class 5A state title after winning one for the former J.O. Johnson. Petty becomes the third player to win back-to-back Mr. Basketball awards joining John Carroll’s Ronald Steele and Butler’s Trevor Lacey.

For the girls, Brewbaker Tech’s Bianca Jackson won the Miss Basketball award. The South Carolina signee is also the first four-time All-State player in Montgomery’s history.
