No one could pull away in this low scoring affair that saw multiple lead changes and ties, but in the end, Seth Williams and Paul Bryant were able to get the slight edge and defeat Parker 48-44 to win the first basketball title in school history.
A back and forth first half saw Parker leading 22-21. However, a buzzer beater three for Bryant gave them some momentum heading into halftime. They would use that momentum to outscore Parker in the third and fourth quarters to inch away from Parker in the end.
Seth Williams, who is also one of the highest rated football recruits in the state for next year’s class, led all scorers with 16 points along with nine rebounds. Jared Sherfield added eight points as did Daviyon Dennis.
For Parker, three players scored in double digits, led by Cam’Ron Beard who had 15 points and eight rebounds. Xavier Williams had 12 points while Jason King had 10.
While Parker loses a few of their contributors, every player on Paul Bryant’s roster is a junior or younger and will be back next season for the chance to repeat.
