Give Montgomery Academy credit for never going away, but in the end, the Lady Hornets were too much and Locust Fork walked away with a 57-47 victory and a spot in the championship on Friday morning.
Kimberly Horton was nearly perfect in the first half, going 4-5 with 11 points and Ashlyn Adkins had 12 points in the first half. Horton finished 7-14 from the field with 20 points and six rebounds, while Adkins was second in points with 12 and also had six rebounds.
Locust Fork shot 50% in the first half, getting 19 of their 33 points off turnovers. They would end up shooting 40% and allow Montgomery Academy to make a small comeback, but the major halftime lead was just too much to overcome.
For the Eagles, Kayla White led the scoring with 19 points and had a double-double with ten rebounds as well. Jade Brooks added 16 points and six rebounds.
Locust Fork awaits the winner of undefeated Hillcrest-Evergreen and Pisgah. The 3A girls championship game will be on Friday at 12:30 pm.
