After going 0-10 last season, John Carroll was looking to turn around their season. They only had two wins this year, but it was a step in the right direction for new head coach Logan Colafrancesco.
Now those two wins are gone and John Carroll will move back to 0-9 before their final game tonight against Pelham, which marks a 19-game losing streak dating back to last year. The AHSAA announced a new punishment today for using an ineligible player and placed the school on probation for a year with a monetary fine as well. This now marks the second time in 2016 that John Carroll has been hit with a violation from the AHSAA.
John Carroll was already put on restrictive probation in February for recruiting violations and was banned from the playoffs this season, but the ban was later lifted for both the Cavaliers and Muscle Shoals.
This forfeiture puts John Carroll as the seventh team to forfeit wins this year. Lee-Montgomery had to forfeit six wins and miss the playoffs, along with Alabama Christian, Mobile Christian, Ellwood Christian, New Brockton, and Prattville.
