It’s time for JoxPreps Bracketology for the 2020 season!

This has been quite the season! We are inching closer to the playoffs and with our bracketology, we like to take a look at how we feel the brackets could play out with only a few weeks left in region play. Below is the bracket as we see it here at JoxPreps. This is nothing more than us looking at the numbers so far and projecting where teams could finish. These current placings are a mix of current standings, projections and our opinion – none of this is set in stone yet. As we near the end of the season, teams will begin to lock up playoff spots, and we will make sure to note when that happens.

With each team listed in the bracket, we have given a confidence grade. This shows how confident we are that a team will finish in a certain spot. A “HIGH” grade means that we feel they will almost assuredly finish in that spot. A “MEDIUM” grade means that we feel that the team will most likely finish somewhere around where we have them listed, maybe a spot or two off depending on future results. A “LOW” grade means that things are still way up in the air and this is only an opinion from us, but there is a lot that still has to play out.

Here is the JoxPreps bracketology for Class 2A as of right now:

* – Seeds/teams marked in red are still up in the air.

Confidence

LOCKED = Locked into that position no matter what
HIGH = Most likely will finish where they are
MEDIUM = Most likely will finish within a spot or two of where our projections have them
LOW = May be in good position now, but things could drastically change with just one or two results

Region 1

1. Leroy (6-0)LOCKED
2. Clarke County (5-1)LOCKED
3. St. Luke’s (4-2)LOCKED
4. JU Blacksher (2-3)HIGH

Others that could grab a spot: Washington County (1-3)

JU Blacksher is in the lead but they play Washington County to end the season the winner is in. Washington County also has to play Orange Beach this week on Tuesday and if Orange Beach wins that and then Washington County beats JU Blacksher, it will be a 3-way tie for fourth and go to non-region games. We will update the non-region standings if need be after that first game.

Region 2

1. Abbeville (6-1)LOCKED
2. GW Long (6-1)LOCKED
3. Geneva County (5-2)LOCKED
4. Ariton (4-3)LOCKED

Ariton got in over Elba (who was also 4-3) by winning head-to-head.

This region is complete.

Region 7

4. Tanner (3-3)LOCKED

Others that could grab a spot: None

This region is complete.

Region 8

1. Mars Hill (6-0)LOCKED
2. Red Bay (5-1)LOCKED
3. Colbert County (4-2)LOCKED
4. Hatton (2-4)LOCKED

Others that could grab a spot: None

There is a three-way tie for fourth with Hatton, Sheffield and Lexington . It would then go to non-region games which (coming into the week) was as follows:

Hatton – 13 (beat Winston County who has 6 wins and East Lawrence who has 7 wins)

Sheffield – 4 (beat RA Hubbard who has 4 wins)

Lexington – 0 (beat Elkmont who has 0 wins)

Hatton would win this tiebreaker based on the lack of potential games that could be added. So they are now locked into fourth place.
