Week 8 is in the books and playoff spots are starting to get locked up across the state! Let’s take a look at our bracketology heading into the final week of region play for most teams and where everyone stands as of now.

We take a look at how we feel the brackets could play out and below is the bracket as we see it here at JoxPreps. This is nothing more than us looking at the numbers so far and projecting where teams could finish. These current placings are a mix of current standings, projections and our opinion – none of this is set in stone yet. As we near the end of the season, teams will begin to lock up playoff spots, and we will make sure to note when that happens.

With each team listed in the bracket, we have given a confidence grade. This shows how confident we are that a team will finish in a certain spot. A “HIGH” grade means that we feel they will almost assuredly finish in that spot. A “MEDIUM” grade means that we feel that the team will most likely finish somewhere around where we have them listed, maybe a spot or two off depending on future results. A “LOW” grade means that things are still way up in the air and this is only an opinion from us, but there is a lot that still has to play out.

Here is the JoxPreps bracketology for Class 4A as of right now:

* – Teams marked in red are locked into that position

Confidence

LOCKED = Locked into that position no matter what
HIGH = Most likely will finish where they are
MEDIUM = Most likely will finish within a spot or two of where our projections have them
LOW = May be in good position now, but things could drastically change with just one or two results

Region 1

1. UMS-Wright (6-0)LOCKED
2. Hillcrest-Evergreen (4-2)HIGH
3. Andalusia (4-2)HIGH
4. Williamson (3-3)LOW

Others that could grab a spot: Escambia County (3-3)

Hillcrest and Andalusia have games that should be winnable this week to put themselves at second and third respectively (Hillcrest won head-to-head earlier this season). Williamson and Escambia County play this week to determine fourth.

Should Hillcrest lose to Monroe County (0-6) and Escambia County win, then Andalusia will move to second, Escambia County will move up to third based on their head-to-head win over Hillcrest, then Hillcrest will be fourth.

Region 2

1. Montgomery Catholic (5-0)LOCKED
2. Trinity (4-1)LOCKED
3. Alabama Christian (2-3)HIGH
4. Dale County (3-3)HIGH

Others that could grab a spot: Headland (2-3)

Catholic and Trinity have their seeds locked up. Alabama Christian still has a game to play against Ashford (1-4) but they have the head-to-head win over Dale County should they win.

Headland is at 2-3 and will play Montgomery Catholic this week. Should they win, they will need Alabama Christian to lose in order to make the playoffs because they lose the tiebreaker to both them and Dale County.

Region 3

1. American Christian (4-0)LOCKED
2. Montevallo (3-2)MEDIUM
3. West Blocton (4-2)MEDIUM
4. Dallas County (3-2)MEDIUM

Others that could grab a spot: None

American Christian is locked in. Montevallo beat West Blocton and Dallas County to own the head-to-head tiebreaker so they only need to beat Greensboro (1-4) this week to lock up second. Should they lose, then West Blocton will move up to second with a head-to-head win over Dallas County. Dallas County has ACA this week so we are predicting them in fourth at 3-3.

Region 4

1. Lincoln (5-0)LOCKED
2. Handley (4-1)HIGH
3. Talladega (4-1)HIGH
4. Holtville (3-3)LOCKED

Others that could grab a spot: None

Lincoln is locked in with tiebreaker wins over Handley/Talladega. Handley and Talladega play this week for second, loser gets third. Holtville is done and no one can pass them or fall behind them in fourth.

Region 5

1. Northside (5-0)LOCKED
2. Fayette County (4-1)HIGH
3. Good Hope (4-1)HIGH
4. Haleyville (2-3)LOW

Others that could grab a spot: Cordova (2-3)

Good Hope and Fayette County play this week for second, loser gets third guaranteed. Haleyville and Cordova play this week and the winner is in, the loser is out of the playoffs in the fourth spot.

Region 6

1. Jacksonville (6-0)LOCKED
2. Oneonta (5-1)LOCKED
3. Anniston (4-2)HIGH
4. Hokes Bluff (4-2)HIGH

Others that could grab a spot: None

Jacksonville is set, Oneonta is set with wins over both Anniston and Hokes Bluff. Anniston is in a good position to be third if they just beat Ashville (0-6), but if Hokes Bluff pulls off the upset on Jacksonville and Anniston loses, then they will switch places.

Region 7

1. Fairview (5-1)LOW
2. Danville (4-2)LOW
3. Priceville (4-2)LOW
4. St. John Paul II (4-2)MEDIUM

Others that could grab a spot: None

No one can drop out of the playoffs, these teams are set. However, they can shift around. Fairview and Danville are playing and Fairview can outright win the region with a win. If that happen and Priceville beats West Morgan (2-4) and St. John Paul II beats DAR (2-4), then Danville will drop to fourth and Priceville has the tiebreaker over St. John Paul II.

This is a region that needs to play out, but if you have scenario questions, let us know on Twitter @JoxPreps.

Region 8

1. Deshler (5-0)LOCKED
2. Brooks (3-2)HIGH
3. Central-Florence (3-2)MEDIUM
4. West Limestone (3-2)MEDIUM

Others that could grab a spot: Rogers (2-3)

Deshler is set, but the fight behind them is anyone’s game. Brooks faces Elkmont (0-5) so we are projecting them to move to 4-2. Central-Florence is playing Rogers (2-3) and if Rogers wins, then that could cause a headache. If Central-Florence wins, then they will be third behind Brooks (or ahead of them in second should Brooks lose). West Limestone’s win over Brooks has them in good position but they face Deshler this week and we project that to be a loss to put them at 3-3. If that is the case and:

Central-Florence wins, then Central-Florence is third, West Limestone is fourth.

Rogers wins, then Rogers is third, Central-Florence is fourth.

There are still a handful of scenarios that could play out.
