Week 9 was a little bizarre with all of the Thursday games, but we will keep track of everything here!

Last updated: October 25, 10:45 pm

We take a look at how we feel the brackets could play out and below is the bracket as we see it here at JoxPreps. This is nothing more than us looking at the numbers so far and projecting where teams could finish. These current placings are a mix of current standings, projections and our opinion. Most teams will be locked in after this week, but some will have to head to non-region tiebreakers next week.

With each team listed in the bracket, we have given a confidence grade. This shows how confident we are that a team will finish in a certain spot. A “HIGH” grade means that we feel they will almost assuredly finish in that spot. A “MEDIUM” grade means that we feel that the team will most likely finish somewhere around where we have them listed, maybe a spot or two off depending on future results. A “LOW” grade means that things are still way up in the air and this is only an opinion from us, but there is a lot that still has to play out.

Here is the JoxPreps bracketology for Class 1A as of right now:

* – Teams marked in black are set in place
* – Teams marked in bold are going to be the home team in the first round
* – Teams marked in red are still up in the air

Please note, this bracket is unofficial until the AHSAA has released their final brackets.

Confidence

LOCKED = Locked into that position no matter what
HIGH = Most likely will finish where they are
MEDIUM = Most likely will finish within a spot or two of where our projections have them
LOW = May be in good position now, but things could drastically change with just one or two results

Region 1

1. Sweet Water (6-0)LOCKED
2. Millry (5-1)LOCKED
3. Marengo (4-2)LOCKED
4. Fruitdale (2-4)MEDIUM

Others that could grab a spot: St. Luke’s (2-4)

There is a three-way tie for the final seed in this region and it will go to Tiebreaker L which states: “The team whose defeated non-region opponents (in class, above class, and within two classes below) have the most victories if all teams involved in the tie play an equal number of games.”

Here are how things stand going into Week 10:

Fruitdale – 3, potentially 6 (AL Johnson: 0 potentially 1, Elberta: 3 potentially 4) with Red Level (1) remaining

St. Luke’s – 0, potentially 7 (no wins) with Cottage Hill Christian (7) remaining

JF Shields – 1, potentially 2 (McKenzie: 1 potentially 2) with AL Johnson (0) remaining

JF Shields can not win this tiebreaker. This basically comes down to one game:

St. Luke’s defeats Cottage Hill – 4) St. Luke’s

Cottage Hill defeats St. Luke’s – 4) Fruitdale

We should note that Elberta isn’t currently classified due to being a new team, but with this being 1A we assume the win for Fruitdale over Elberta will count, but are not 100% sure. Should the win not county, then there is an outside chance for JF Shields to win the tiebreaker.

Region 2

1. Brantley (7-0)LOCKED
2. Elba (6-1)LOCKED
3. Florala (5-2)LOCKED
4. Georgiana (4-3)LOCKED

Others that could grab a spot: None

This region is set.

Region 3

1. Isabella (6-0)LOCKED
2. Maplesville (5-1)LOCKED
3. Linden (4-2)LOCKED
4. Keith (3-3)LOCKED

Others that could grab a spot: None

This region is set.

Region 4

1. Lanett (6-0)LOCKED
2. Notasulga (4-2)HIGH
3. Billingsley (4-2)HIGH
4. Wadley (4-2)HIGH

Others that could grab a spot: None

There is a three-way tie for second place that will go to Tiebreaker N which states “The team whose defeated opponents have the most victories.” This is because not all three teams have played the same amount of games. It should be noted that all three teams will make the postseason no matter what.

Here are the standings for non-common defeated opponents as of now (they all defeated Autaugaville, Loachapoka and Verbena):

Notasulga – 10, potentially 11 (LaFayette: 5, Billingsley: 5 potentially 6) with none remaining

Billingsley – 5, potentially 12 (Prattville Christian: 0 potentially 1, Wadley: 5 potentially 6) with Thorsby (5) remaining

Wadley – 6, potentially 15 (Woodland: 1 potentially 2, Notasulga: 5) with Randolph County (8) remaining

Should Wadley somehow defeat Randolph County (8-1) then they would win this, but it looks like Notasulga is in the best position right now with Billingsley also in a decent position.

Assuming Notasulga wins this tiebreaker, the standings will be listed as they are above. If Billingsley wins, then they will move to second, Wadley will move up to third and Notasulga will drop to fourth.

Region 5

1. Spring Garden (6-0)LOCKED
2. Donoho (5-1)LOCKED
3. Appalachian (3-3)LOCKED
4. Victory Christian (3-3)LOCKED

Others that could grab a spot: None

There is a three-way tie for the third seed that will go to Tiebreaker N which states “The team whose defeated opponents have the most victories.” This is because not all three teams have played the same amount of games.

Here are the standings for non-common defeated opponents as of now (they all defeated Ragland and Talladega County Central):

Appalachian – 14, potentially 18 (Southeastern: 4 potentially 5, Coosa Christian: 1 potentially 2, Victory Christian: 5 potentially 6, Cold Springs: 4 potentially 5) with none remaining

Victory Christian – 8, potentially 11 (Gaylesville: 1 potentially 2, Coosa Christian: 1 potentially 2, Winterboro: 6) with Sumiton Christian (1) remaining

Winterboro – 6, potentially 9 (Central-Coosa: 0 potentially 1, BB Comer: 4 potentially 5, Vincent: 2 potentially 3, Appalachian: 6) with none remaining

So Appalachian can’t lose this tiebreaker no matter what. They will be the third seed with Victory Christian in fourth thanks to their head-to-head win over Winterboro.

Region 6

1. Pickens County (7-0)LOCKED
2. South Lamar (6-1)LOCKED
3. Berry (5-2)LOCKED
4. Hubbertville (3-4)LOCKED

Others that could grab a spot: Marion County (3-4), Lynn (3-4)

The top three are set. There is a three-way tie for fourth place that will go to Tiebreaker L which states: “The team whose defeated non-region opponents (in class, above class, and within two classes below) have the most victories if all teams involved in the tie play an equal number of games.”

Here are the current standings:

Hubbertville – 11, potentially 15 (Waterloo: 7 potentially 8, Hackleburg: 4 potentially 5) with Phillips (2) remaining

Lynn – 2, potentially 6 (Phillips: 2 potentially 3) with Winston County (3) remaining

Marion County – 7, potentially 9 (Vina: 3 potentially 4, Hackleburg: 4 potentially 5) with none remaining

Hubbertville is so far ahead that they have locked up the final spot and can’t be passed this week.

Region 7

1. Decatur Heritage (6-0)LOCKED
2. Valley Head (4-2)LOCKED
3. Falkville (4-2)LOCKED
4. Woodville (3-3)LOCKED

Others that could grab a spot: None

This region is set.

Region 8

1. Mars Hill (6-0)LOCKED
2. Waterloo (5-1)LOCKED
3. Hackleburg (4-2)LOCKED
4. Vina (3-3)LOCKED

Others that could grab a spot: None

This region is set.
