It’s almost time for kickoff of the 2018 AHSAA football season! Thursday, August 23 will start the seasons of many teams and the first games will roll on through the weekend ending with the nationally televised doubleheader featuring Hoover vs. Pinson Valley and Hewitt-Trussville vs. Cedar Grove (GA) on Saturday on ESPN.

As you gear up for the season, we’ll have you covered throughout the week and rest of the fall right here on JoxPreps and Jox 94.5.

Starting this week with Week 0, we will be on the air each Friday night for the Encore Sports Medicine JoxPreps Scoreboard – the best source for up-to-the-minute scores in the entire state each Friday night. That show airs from 9-11 pm on Jox 94.5, online at and also streaming live on the Jox 94.5 mobile app as well. The show is hosted by Tim Melton of Jox Primetime and our own Aaron Daniel. Jon Lunceford will be live at major games each Friday night as well and reporting live on those games each week.

Miss the scoreboard show Friday night? No worries, tune in each Saturday morning from 8-9 am before your college football day begins and listen to the Encore Sports Medicine JoxPreps Rewind, a new hour-long show that will recap the biggest games of Friday night and look at the bigger picture when it comes to various major match-ups throughout the state. This will air as a part of Jox’s new, revamped Saturday game day lineup throughout the season and starts this Saturday, August 25! The show will be hosted by our own Jon Lunceford and Aaron Daniel and will also be available via podcast as well for those that can’t catch it each morning. As always, follow along on Twitter @JoxPreps as we bring you the latest scores, news and updates from Alabama high school football. You can send in your scores each Friday night to that account and have your updates read live on the air!

Throughout the season, we’ll also have videos each week on our JoxPreps Game of the Week, which this week will feature a match-up between the reigning 6A and 7A champions with Hoover facing Pinson Valley on ESPN this Saturday at 11:30 am.

Stay tuned after Week 6 when will also begin our JoxPreps Bracketology – the leading source for high school playoff knowledge after games are done Friday night so you can see where your team is projected to be seeded when it comes time for the playoffs.
